The Teacher Fundamentals course is the first course we'll be offering next year and we believe it is THE course that is central to everything we do as Pilates teachers.

We think that teaching Pilates is so much more than knowing a bunch of exercises or completing a weekend course. It requires an understanding of an integrated system, it requires communication skills and anatomy knowledge, it requires class programming and knowledge of how to apply exercise science.

The Teacher Fundamentals course covers everything EXCEPT the repertoire. In it we cover:

• Communication skills - use of language, use of cues (verbal vs visual vs tactile), how to teach group vs 1:1, how to effectively intake new clients, how to listen
• Anatomy - basic overview, how muscles work, injuries and healing, biopsychosocial model of pain, understanding special conditions, training adaptive folk
• Science - understanding basic principles, understanding research and evidence, national guidelines, physics of exercise
• History - origins of Pilates, who did what and when
• Programming - effective programming, specific vs general, programming toolbox

With a combination of online self-led education and in-person training, peer support and mentorship the course is designed to support and guide you every step of the way. With lifetime access to all course resources and materials this course will keep you engaged long after you've completed it.
